Security
SCL places a great importance on the security of all personally identifiable information associated with our customers. We have security measures in place to attempt to protect against the loss, misuse and alteration of customer data under our control.
All communication with the SCL web site is encrypted using the industry standard SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) protocol (see https://www.verisign.co.uk/ssl/ssl-information-center/how-ssl-security-works/index.html). This encryption secures all data communicated over the Internet between your browser and our web server including any data you enter into forms on the site and also just information about which pages you are visiting. In addition to this our server presented your browser with a digital certificate of authenticity when you first arrived at this site. This certificate is digitally signed by VeriSign to verify the authenticity of the SCL web site. Before issuing SCL with this certificate, VeriSign ensured that the domain name for the SCL web site was fully owned by us. This stops bogus companies from setting up a web site that looks similar to the SCL web site, with a similar domain name.
Most browsers display a small locked padlock icon at the bottom of the screen when a visitor views a secure document. Double clicking this icon will bring up details of the certificate including who issued it, the date and the company it was issued to.

SCL keeps track of the IP address you are using to access the SCL web site. SCL will track IP address in order to investigate reports of Internet abuse. Although IPs generally do not identify an individual, they can be used to track down an individual in cases of Internet abuse with the cooperation of the ISP owning that IP.
